Get rid of those dark under eye circles!
Hello Beauties! What about dark circles under your eyes? We are all faced with this problem at least once. Most time even more often than that!
The thin skin under our eyes is one of the most delicate parts of our body. Consuming alcohol, a lack of sleep, ageing, caffeine and dehydration can result in dark circles around our eyes. Sometimes the dark circles are so stubborn that we end up trying all the possible remedies in attempts to get rid of them, but without realistic, flattering results. Maintaining a healthier lifestyle and consuming vitamin-rich food can help get rid of these dark circles. We need to be more conscious about things we put inside out body as true beauty and glowing skin comes from within.. Consuming foods that are rich in vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin A and vitamin E help in reducing your dark circles., and creating a general healthy radiance Drinking at least 2 litres of water every day and getting 8 hours of sleep is so important too. Hydrating foods, mineral-rich foods and the foods that have circulation-boosting antioxidants are a plus. And drink LOTS of water!
Here is the list of foods that may help you to get rid of your dark circles:
1. Tomato
Tomato consists of powerful antioxidants that help in protecting the delicate blood vessels under our eyes and further encourages better blood circulation. Tomatoes are also rich in lycopene, lutein, beta carotene, quercetin, and vitamin C that are known for maintaining healthy skin regime.
2. Cucumber
Cucumber is a classic beauty food that has a high-water content, which hydrates our body and helps to fight against dark circles. It contains collagen-boosting silica, skin-strengthening sulphur along with vitamins A, C, E, and K, which increase the elasticity of blood vessels and helps remove the dark circles.
3. Watermelon
Watermelon has a high-water content, almost 92%, which helps to balance the water ratio in our body. It also contains beta carotene, lycopene, fibre, vitamin B1 and B6, vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium that support our eye health.
4. Sesame
Sesame is regarded as a 'magic food', and you ask why? It is rich in vitamin E that helps to ease the formation of dark circles. It is known to eliminate the dark circles by nourishing the eyes and the ocular.
5. Black Currant
Black currant is known to improve our blood circulation, especially to the optical nerve of our eyes. It contains anthocyanins that supply more oxygen to the tissues, further helping to reduce dark circles under the eyes.
By eating these foods, you may get rid of your dark circles naturally, and will certainly look more radiant and healthy. But, remember dark circles take time to cure and require great discipline. A regular healthy diet and skin care program should be followed to notice the positive change.
But if you still find those stubborn circles lingering under your eyes, here are several tricks as a professional makeup artist that I would suggest to get you glowing again.
DEPUFFING
In some cases, dark circles may be accompanied with puffiness and swelling. In addition to not hydrating yourself with gold ole H20, and eating the foods listed above, stress, illness and lack of sleep can be factors that cause this under-eye bagging.
Chilled Slices of Cucumber are an old tried and true remedy and still are often seen as part of a simple beauty regime at many prestigious spas and salons. If you don’t have any cukes on hand, some spoons placed in the freezer for a short time can work great in a pinch. Just let them warm up in your hand for a couple of seconds instead of putting them on your face straight from the icebox.
I highly recommend applying Hyaluronic Acid directly to the under eye area just before moisturizing. Apply you clean fingers, and let absorb into the skin until it dries, and then apply your moisturizer. The Hyaluronic Acid holds 100x it’s weigh in water, and draws in moisture, plumping fine lines, and hydrating the skin. I highly recommend Embryolisse Laite-Creme Concentre as the followup moisturizer as it balanced the pH of skin, works as a primer, can be used to remove your makeup, and then as a night cream.
COLOR CORRECTION & CONCEALING
One of the most common pieces of advice I am asked by my clients and friends, is how to fix the bags under their eyes. Many times there aren’t actually bags, but darkness or hyper-pigmentation will give the appearance of sagging and droopiness. Typically the color of the thin skin under the eyes is the culprit to looking tired and worn out. With the precise color and gentle hand, we can neutralize the darkness that causes the appearance of bags under the eyes.
Many people make the mistake of only using a very light concealer to cover the under-eye area, when in fact you want to use a color corrector specifically made to neutralize the color of the under eye area. In many cases, tapping a small amount of salmon or peachy corrective color will work to do this. A concealer that is a shade or two lighter than the foundation can be applied lightly over the corrector color to smooth it all out. To finish, I recommend a light dusting of translucent setting powder like Ben Nye’s Neutral Set Setting Powder to lock it in, and prevent creasing.
