Bridal & Wedding Hairstyle Ideas for Short Cuts
When trying to find the perfect hairstyle for our big day, we often look at a variety of places for inspiration. We’ll scour through wedding magazines, creating dream boards, and browse through real weddings posted on websites such as The Knot. Some women like to watch wedding themed movies to get ideas on their own styling decisions, which is also a great excuse to have your bridal party over for a girls’ night in.
There are plenty of films that feature weddings as their core theme, though one of the most popular is without doubt the 2011 picture Bridesmaids. A movie which has influenced the creation of bridal shower games on Pinterest and digital games like Bridesmaids from the operators of the Slingo entertainment hub, the characters hilariously captured all the obstacles of wedding planning. Despite all of the problems that Annie (played by Kristen Wiig) encountered, her hair never seemed to be an issue. While she did wear her hair in the same style throughout the majority of the movie, Kristen did look amazing with her side swept bangs and voluminous curls in the events leading up to the wedding and the celebration itself. Although she wasn’t the bride, her haircut inspired us to share ideas of bridal ‘dos for those with shorter cuts.
Here are a few hairstyles that you can try out:
Side Braid
Just because you don’t have locks that extend below your shoulders, it doesn’t mean you can’t have your hair in a braid. This updo was created backcombing hair to create volume and an illusion that your hair is longer than it is. From there, hair was French-braided to the side, and then secured at the ends with pins.
Vintage Curls
Channel Old Hollywood with some vintage curls. Whether you’ve got a pixie cut or a lob, this style can be incorporated into any hair length using old-fashioned rollers. To nail the retro look, Refinery 29 has four different tutorials on old-school curls to help you figure out which era you want to channel. To finish the look, you can add a birdcage veil.
Mid-Bun with Bouffant
If your tresses aren’t long enough for a low or high bun, the mid-bun is conventional but equally as beautiful. Add some height with a bit of a poof above the bun on the top of your head, and then dress up your bun with a hair accessory of your choice, such as an elegant comb or a floral pin.
