Tips to Coordinate Your Wedding Day Makeup and Hair Schedule
Planning a wedding should be a fun, exciting, delightful time, but often times it can be nerve-racking, stressful and chaotic. But by the time your wedding morning arrives, you should feel relaxed and ready, with just the right amount of butterflies, you know, so it feels real! ❤️
As a professional Bridal Makeup Artist and Hairstylist, working Long Island Weddings for over 20+ years, I am there to create a seamless getting ready experience, in a relaxed, fun atmosphere for you and your bridal party. Here are some tips to Coordinate Your Wedding Day Makeup and Hair schedule.
Hiring your team
When you begin wedding planning, you will likely start searching for the perfect venues for your ceremony and reception. After that, you will start choosing other vendors like Photography, Flowers, Makeup & Hair, and Coordinators. Often you will read reviews on sites like Wedding Wire and The Knot, or receive recommendations from other Vendors or Family & Friends. A great way to decide if a particular vendor is a good match for you, is to chat or even meet with them. Since most Professional Makeup Artists & Hairstylists offer a Trial Consultation, this is the perfect time to get to know each other, and most especially for me, to get to know all about you, the Bride! And a trial is a lot of fun!
I believe that the you should have everything you heart desires on the biggest day of your life, and that includes looking and feeling your most beautiful. I work one-on-one with you at your trial to come up with the perfect look for your Wedding Hair and Makeup.
Making your wedding day schedule
Most vendors will finalize the details and timelines about 1-2 months prior to your wedding. Some within even less time. Don’t be afraid to contact your vendors, even if you just need the added reassurance that everything is going according to plan. This is your day, after all.
Just before the 2 month mark prior to your wedding, I send you will email a checklist of all the details to create the schedule and instructions for you and your bridal party’s makeovers on the day of your wedding. This is all based on the number of services, the time your photographer arrives and other factors. I am super-detailed with spreadsheets to make it all simple and easy to understand and implement into your wedding day schedule. I even factor in time for touch-ups and some photos at the end, so that everyone feels fresh and pretty.
The Week Before Your Wedding
There are many final details you will need to attend to on the days leading up to your Wedding. You may be greeting or hosting out of town guests, paying final vendor invoices and running last minute errands. Even though this is an incredibly busy time, it is essential that you take care of yourself and your future spouse in these days. Schedule time for a massage, mani/pedi or even just a relaxing stroll to decompress.
To be your best self, you will need to put yourself first this week, so make sure to nor over-book or pressure yourself with unnecessary tasks.
I check in with all my brides at the beginning of their wedding week to confirm all final details and a little pep talk. Oh, and you’re drinking LOTs of water now too, right?? 😉
On your wedding day
The big day is here! At this point everything that should be done, is done. Anything else, you’ve delegated to vendors, bridesmaids, or someone else to handle. Try to secure a peaceful, relaxed environment for getting ready before your wedding.
Likely one of the first vendors to see you on your wedding day will be your Makeup and Hair Artist… this is the person is the one who starts off your day for you. I arrive on your Wedding day at your home, venue, hotel or other location, on-time, prepared and stocked with all the tools and supplies to transform you & your bridal party and family. If necessary, depending on time, and the number of services, I will bring additional artists/stylists to complete the entire group in a timely, and stress-free manner.
Concierge Service
“Ali By Your Side” is a Luxury Concierge Service I offer to clients looking to change a look, or are concerned about touching up throughout the day. If you'd like to book me for additional time, that begins at the completion of initial makeovers and first round of touchups (Before Photography). I will work with you, your bridal party, the photographer, making sure everything and everyone is perfect, touching up hair, makeup and wardrobe as needed, as well as an all around assistant to you and your bridal party. This is also an opportunity to change your look if you are switching dresses or just want a more dramatic look for evening.
A final thought:
Your wedding planning will be full of details, tasks and duties, but remember it is just one day, and you should try to enjoy every day of your engagement and days leading up to your wedding. Celebrate with your fiance and friends and family! Enjoy the showering of love (and presents!) and all the little ways people in your life show your their love.
Love, that is after-all, the reason why we are gathered here together. 😉
